Dasha Bazanova in Surroundings @ SPACE776
February 21 – March 4, 2025
Opening Reception: Friday, February 21, 6–8 PM
37-39 Clinton St., New York, NY 10002
SPACE776 presents Surroundings, a dynamic group exhibition exploring the interplay between environment and identity through a diverse range of artistic media. Featuring works by Dasha Bazanova, Lise Ellingsen, Mary Tooley Parker, Sarah Fuhrman, Zak Vreeland, Chunbum Park, and Ryan Schroeder, the show examines how our surroundings shape us—and how we, in turn, leave our imprint on them.
In this exhibition, Dasha Bazanova continues her exploration of human behavior through the lens of anthropomorphic storytelling. Her ceramic sculptures transform barnyard animals into theatrical figures, each engaged in a narrative that mirrors human emotions and societal structures. With humor and sharp observation, Bazanova’s work turns the everyday into allegory, blurring the line between instinct and artifice. Through her pieces, she invites viewers to reflect on identity, performance, and the unseen forces that shape our interactions with the world around us.
Join us at SPACE776 for the opening reception on February 21 to experience Surroundings and witness how these artists bring their unique perspectives to the evolving dialogue between self and setting.
