This solo exhibition of ceramics & paintings by Dasha Bazanova serves as a condensation of American social scenes, complete with their intersecting themes of decadence, nostalgia, and glamor. The artist’s “social club tubs” play humorously on the body as a temple: the figures bathe themselves seemingly in an effort to cleanse, while at the same time locked in an unending cycle of pleasure and indulgence. American Pool Party invites the viewer to evaluate the nihilistic drive towards consumption and its embedded role in American culture–and increasingly, throughout the world.
