Statement
Dasha Bazanova
I am a multimedia artist working with figurative ceramic sculpture, oil painting, and installation art. My work examines the tension between individual desire and collective human experience, using satire to question systems of power, modern values, and societal priorities. By addressing issues such as overconsumption and media manipulation, I aim to provoke viewers to question how public opinion is shaped and how systemic problems are often obscured.
My art blurs the line between chaos and sincerity, combining playful, exaggerated forms with deeper psychological narratives. Inspired by the satirical traditions of Russian literary greats like Dostoevsky and Gogol, I create characters with extreme personality traits and profound inner conflicts. These figures offer a lens through which to examine the complexities of human nature and uncover deeper meanings within modern life.
Through a balance of satire, figurative distortion, and layered storytelling, my work invites reflection, dialogue, and critical thinking about the systems and forces shaping our world today.
